My Learning Journal

The most important thing I learned about coding was...

you have to “tutu” before you could do it properly.  It is nice and exciting to create my own game.

If you want to be a game maker you have to go on to coding first. You could go into other and do coding too.  In the future we are going to be coding.

It was really frustrating at the start but I got it and now it is easy to do and I like it.

I need help with…the characters to make them walk and do a lot of other movements. I also need help with the other blocks and what they mean.

It was awesome.  

I think that other schools would want to use coding in their lives.  And if they don’t then they are missing out on something awesome.

My Earthquake Animation

OBJECTIVES

1. to identify the hazards in an earthquake
2. to create an emergency plan
3. to design and build an vehicle to help others who are trapped or hurt,

MATERIALS NEEDED

1. Lego toys
2. Cardboard box - scene
3. model scenery - towns buildings people
4. plasticine
5. ipad

My role was to move the objects in the animation. I had to be very careful and take my hands out of the way before Kura took the photos. It was fun making all of our characters and the background. Next time I would try to improve my storyboard to make a better animation. Next time I need to work on keeping the iPad still so it doesn't keep moving.

Why is it an weekend?

New Zealand workers was the first in the world to the right of an eight-hour day holiday. It was held in honour of working people. Labour Day is a public holiday held on the fourth Monday in October.  Samuel Parnell invented Labour Day for the people who work. Labour Day commemorates the struggle for an eight-hour working day. New Zealand workers were among the first in the world to claim this right when, in 1840, the carpenter Samuel Parnell won an eight-hour day in Wellington.  It was first celebrated on the 28 October 1890, the fourth Monday in October.

The three-day Labour Day weekend can be a great way to step away from your home, or work, at home job,  to recharge your batteries and spend some time with your family.

The original intent of Labor Day was to provide a holiday that would honor the social and economic achievements of American workers. Essentially, it was intended to as an annual national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, growth, and well-being of our country.
